Before I get into today's post on MLM prospecting, let me be the very first to state that I'm not a master on this subject... Having said that, let me also say that even though the prior sentence is true, these tips DO work, and if you can remember to implement these 4 things in your everyday prospecting activities, they should work for you too.

MLM Prospecting: Tip #1

CONTACT YOUR LEADS!!! - I can't believe that I'm having to say this here, but this tip gets ignored more than any other... Specifically when it comes to Internet Marketing.

Many Internet Marketers believe that since they're marketing on the Internet, they think it's okay to, "let the system perform all of the work for them". What they fail to understand is that regardless of whether you develop your business online, offline, or BOTH, MLM is about developing relationships. People join people, not systems and companies. I'm sure you've heard this before.

Therefore, while I feel that this should go without saying, I can't say it enough. In order to become successful with your MLM prospecting, start with contacting your leads as they come in.

MLM Prospecting: Tip #2

Establish Rapport - Once you have overcome your fear of contacting your leads, once you get them on the phone, the first thing you must do is build a rapport with them. Let them know there is an actual person behind the marketing system. Be sure to NOT make the conversation about you. Center your conversation around them and what they're searching for. This brings me to tip #3...

MLM Prospecting: Tip #3

LISTEN!! - Next to contacting your leads, this is certainly the most significant tip I can give you on how to execute your MLM prospecting effectively. Your goal is to basically get your prospects to open up to you. Because they have opted in to your list, the chances of them doing this are quite good... However, you have to give them the opportunity to do so. Sure, you may ask them questions to get info, but when you do, listen to what they have to tell you. One way you are able to do this is to take notes on the things they say. By doing this, you're forced to listen to them, and you have notes that you can look back on after your chat. You can, then, use these notes to produce a solution to their problem, which will help your potential prospect move forward... Potentially with you.

MLM Prospecting: Tip #4

Be Yourself - I found MLM prospecting to be much easier once I realized that I can by who I am and still be effective. I remember the time when I did all of my MLM prospecting exclusively over the telephone. I constantly felt like I had to portray myself as a "professional". To be truthful, that made me feel awkward to the point that my prospecting efforts started dwindling until I eventually stopped.

A great example of being yourself while still being effective in your prospecting is David Wood. If you happen to know him, you surely know what I'm talking about.

Don't get me wrong... I'm not stating that it's okay to lack any professionalism what so ever, (I'm not saying that David does) but, it's ok to have a bubbling personality because, along with your skills and knowledge, it will merely improve, and improve your everyday MLM prospecting efforts.
